World of Warcraft is corrupted and needs to be reverted to a previous version.
This is an unpleasant message to be met with when you run the repair utility. But something big was corrupted in my installation, because WoW reverted all the way back to version 2.2. I ran the repair utility because the game crashed 4 times in about 2 minutes while I was trying to prep for a heroic SH run. Whoopie!
So, after my game reverted to 2.2, it had to download all the patches that have occured since then. There were a lot of them. about 2Gb worth. Took a while. So I hopped on my laptop…Turns out I haven’t patched it for a while either! Ugh! Furthermore, I have older versions of my mods on it, so my interface was totally out of date. More ugh.
Fortunately, one of the other people we were running with was late too, having “get the child to go to bed” problems. So, eventually, I get all patched up…of course, it has toasted my WTF directory and my guildmates want to get going. So I fix up my interface enough to play…and we proceed to have a decent (though not superb) Heroic Shattered Halls run. We wiped several times (though never twice on the same fight). But we had an alt or two along, so a couple of us got useful items, and hey, I got 8 Badges from it (SH was both the daily normal and daily heroic instance yesterday!). We were 7 minutes too late for the prisoner quest, though. Damned Gauntlet is a pain. And the Gladiator room is interesting with 3 druids. Though, actually, this was one of the easier SH runs I’ve been on. The only one I would classify as easier we didn’t actually get the last boss down.
