Controversial issue of the week: Zombies

Near as I can tell are three camps on this issue: people who used the zombie invasion as an excuse to ruin everybodies game play, people who hated the people ruining everybodies game play, and people who managed to totally avoid group number.

The zombie invasion was an interesting idea - “Let’s do something that completely affects the world”. Note, this is not “Let’s do something that makes a notable permanent change in the world”. The zombie infection goes away and we won’t likely see it again.  Anyway, I find the idea interesting.

The problem is that Blizzard fails to consider that well over half of their player base is complete and total asshats, whose prefered goal is to ruin everybody else’s day.  (It doesn’t help that their lead designer was such a person in EQ).  So, with the way they designed it, they basically told at least 1/3 of their player base to log off for the weekend.

For me, it wasn’t a problem on my main. I just killed them. And then went to find the Argent Healer. And it didn’t really bother me that once in a while the AH got nuked. What irritated me was when the same jackass kept coming in over and over  and over and over to kill the auctioneers. My level 20 bank alt isn’t likely to be able to do anything about that.

On the other hand, I didn’t bother logging in on Sunday for anything but HH runs. Because it wasn’t fun. I didn’t roll on a Pvp server. I’m on a PvE server because I don’t want to deal with griefing. The event basically made it so that anyone could grief anyone. And since all the Argent healers appeared to disappear, there wasn’t a damn thing you could do about it if you weren’t able to remove disease (Flaime is a druid).  So basically, Blizzard forced me to not participate because of poor design - allowing griefers free reign. I blame Tigole.
